To enrich the Typeware experience, we have been working on application software. Typeware On-Screen Assistant can be used as a cheat sheet for the wearable keyboard ánd as a configuration tool.
The On-Screen Assistant is a platform-independent application that has a BLE connection with the Typeware devices. The On-Screen Assistant can be used
- as cheat sheet (meant to get people up and running quickly)
- to enable custom settings.
The default mechanical keys assignment is shown here in light blue. The characters that can be reached with a gesture and are recognized by hand-tracking mechanisms are dark blue.
How to launch the On-Screen Assistant
A triple click with the thumb – similar to the Morse pattern of SOS – will show/hide the application.
The application is platform-independent, so it works on i.e. Linux, Microsoft and Mac.
The application opens on the screen at the location where you have last dropped it the last time you have used it. You can drop the cheat sheet on your screen whereever it overlaps your active programs the least.
The application is also the starting point for configurations and updates - there will be huge freedom to customize the layout and the mouse functionality.
This includes things as
- Mouse sensitivity (for both high speed and low speed)
- Scroll sensitivity (both vertical and horizontal)
- Look and feel of (keys on) cheat sheet window
Keyboard settings can currently be fully customized via opening, editing and uploading the .json configuration files for the left and the right hand
For smoother and more efficient computer work, you can reset i.e.
- Ctrl + P (or Cmd + P) as quick file finder.
- Ctrl + D (or Cmd + D) for multi-cursor editing.
- Ctrl + Shift + F (or Cmd + Shift + F) for global code search.
- Ctrl + ` to toggle integrated terminal.
- Alt + Shift + Down/Up Arrow to duplicate line.
- Shift + Enter to iInsert line break without submitting.
- Ctrl + Shift + V (or Cmd + Option + Shift + V on Mac) to paste without formatting.
- Ctrl + F (or Cmd + F) to find on page or within genAI reply.
- Alt + Tab (or Cmd + Tab) as app switcher.
- Up Arrow to edit last prompt message.
- Ctrl + K (or Cmd + K) to open a new chat or search.
- Ctrl + I (or Cmd + I) for an Inline AI Prompt.
- Prt Sc for print screen
to key (combination)s that are right under your fingers, instead of their original place in the standard keyboard layout.
We think this feature could be great for people searching for a keyboard for carpal comfort, or a more ergonomic keyboard for programmers or writers.
